The Custom House Maritime Museum is managed by the Newburyport Maritime Society, Inc. The Society was established in 1968 for the purpose of protecting, preserving, and communicating the maritime heritage of the Merrimack Valley and its role in American history. We are connecting the past to the living history of today through new relationships with local artistic, business and environmental organizations.
The mission of the Essex Historical Society and Shipbuilding Museum (EHSSM) is to preserve the history of Essex, Massachusetts, with particular emphasis on the town's shipbuilding industry and the role it played in the development of the American fishing schooner.
In support of its mission, the EHSSM collects, preserves and interprets Essex related material, develops and conducts educational programs and encourages scholarly research.
Visitors to Hammond Castle Museum are welcome to explore the castle on a self-guided tour of many rooms including the great hall, indoor courtyard, Renaissance dining room, two guest bedrooms, the inventions exhibit room, the library, the War room, the kitchens, the Natalie Hays Hammond exhibit room, the tower galleries, as well as several smaller rooms and passage ways including a secret passageway. Visitors may also enjoy the beauty of the castle grounds and a view of the Atlantic shore line.
A century ago, a group of far-sighted trustees of the Abbot Public Library recognized the need to collect and preserve materials relating to Marblehead and its people. To accomplish this, they formed a private organization that would be continually fostered by a large and active membership and they named it the Historical Society of Marblehead...

The Salem Witch Museum brings you there, back to Salem 1692. Visitors are given a dramatic history lesson using stage sets with life-size figures, lighting and a narration - an overview of the Witch Trials of 1692. The new exhibit, Witches: Evolving Perceptions - examines the stereotypical witch, aspects of witchcraft in the 17th century, modern witchcraft and the phenomenon of witch-hunts.

The Fish
Box Derby Race is a family event that is held in early September. This
was established by a non-profit organization - Fish Box Derby, Inc.
whose purpose it is to provide the local youth with the opportunity to
build and strengthen family relations. Boys and Girls from ages eight to
fourteen are eligible to enter (there are no fees to enter). The young
people work side by side with their parents, grandparents, guardians or
neighbors to build their own car and participate in the race. The cars
reflect each individual style and mechanical abilities.
